OK, My family have been through a lot this time of the year..a near death experience and perhaps a year long trip to recovery is the main game. On the brighter side we've got to smile and move forward together. But what's happening in Britain at the moment just added insult to injury. When I arrived in this country coming from a third world state, I marveled on everything. The first thing which enthralled me was the button you have to press before crossing the street to change the traffic lights so people can cross safely. Then the number of buses running, how clean and effective they are. People are queuing at everything.Getting in an out of the bus, paying for goods in the counter, everybody knows their turn. Most people have what they need, clothing, shelter, food (chocolates are greatly available and other junk food), there's always desserts on the table if you want and kids..yes the kids gets anything and I mean ANYTHING if the parents let them. Even with a family of low income, parents can still squeezed in a Wii for Christmas, DS, or PlayStation which for child of 5 or 7 is just a normal thing.
People don't discipline their kids the way other countries do for fear of being reported to social services. My colleague who's got a 4 year old boy whom she'd scolded for not doing what his mum asked him to do shouted back at her saying that's not how one should treat kids.
Yes, kids here can do want they want as parents have limited rights to discipline them..they give them what they asked and because they know how the system works, they feel empowered.
What has been happening around Britain is truly disgusting. I never imagined to have witnessed this in my lifetime. Why are we all taken by surprised? Even the police wasn't expecting this public disorder and criminality to spread like fire and in such full force that have shaken the nation.. What have the country bred? Lawless teenagers who believe they aren't respected..Respect for what? For taking drugs, for drinking all morning and disrupt your next door neighbor who's trying to sleep cause the next day would be a long day at work? Respect for stealing goods and damaging other people's possessions? I just don't understand. This people I saw in the streets looked like mad dogs high on rabies.
I hope Britain have learned from this..I admire those who stood up to face these thugs..Those who are willing to protect their lives, property and love ones. If there's one consolation, that is the urge to fight evil. Let the battle begin..
