Today the British Summer Time has arrived and we gained an hour. I actually find this weird as I've never known any other country who does this sort of thing. I still get confused but apparently this has been observed since 1916 through William Willett. He first suggested it in 1907 through a pamphlet called ' The Waste of Daylight.' He thought people slept a lot and wasted Summer mornings so it's best to put the clock forward by an hour and a lot of things could be accomplished in the afternoons. (summer time we get longer days). It moves back an hour as the Summer Time ends. Contrary to my belief there are other countries who still move their clocks backwards and forwards such as New Zealand, part of Australia, North of America and most of Canada, European Union countries and some African countries. Whether this still holds true till now in all countries I mentioned, I'm not entirely sure.
The good thing of waking up early to check the clock on the TV box was the chance to watch the Grand Prix which airing time I forgot about. It was a glorious moment for McLaren's Jenson Button and a rather dismal finish to Lewis Hamilton. I would have thought he did a great job on the first part of the race until the engineers brought him in to change tyres but unfortunately the other teams didn't follow suit. It would have been a tidy 1-2 finish but strategy failed him. He ended up in sixth place. For the race highlights please click here.
However the man of the day was Jenson whose rather lovely girlfriend stood by to cheer him up. I admire his affection towards her as he finished the race. I truly wish them both well. Such a lovely couple. My Bae sis from Japan must have heard of her as she's one popular model. Her name is Jessica Michibata..
Love this photo of them together..reminds me of hubby and me less the fame & status of course :-)
