Hi! You must have read this translation of Suehan about YJ and Ryu Seung Soo's tale on laziness. I couldn't help but smile while pondering on YJ's words. Only because it sort of hit home. It's not that I like my bed so much but I'm just one of those who once awake would remain awake. Let's say more of a lark than an owl. One of my friends have the same problem with Ryu, her sleeping pattern is erratic so she sleeps early hours of the day but I could only advice her to do this and that to help her sleep and unlike Ryu she has to go to work so still she has to be up in time. It's quite easy to tell people what they could do but if there are underlying issues such as depression, alcohol problems, health problems, etc. one must manage the root of the problem first.
YJ said 'If you wake up a little bit early, then you might have lots of work to do.' This is actually true. Recently I have been running whenever I'm off so it start the day for me. I like the fresh air and stillness of the street in our neighborhood. It also get me ready to face the day ahead. And for someone like me who has to get busy at all times a planner has to be handy in order to sort things out plus it shows what I have accomplished in the end.
He also said “You have to make your own work by yourself. In my case, no one would be complaining to me if I go to bed and wake up late when I don’t have any schedule. However, I create work to do and try to spend my day prolifically. If you go on the internet and go to bed, then you just waste your life in vain and kill the days." Internet is quite addictive and unfortunately you missed out a lot if you have spent most of your time surfing. It's the same with many things really such as watching TV. It's better be out walking or exploring the world around you than sit and watch TV. That's just me anyway. In other words do something productive each day.
The last thing in this excerpt is YJ's attention to details . How many times have we said I like that film or that actor was really good? We get attracted to certain films for various reasons. Let's say Winter Sonata. Up to now it's one of my favorites. I asked in particular what I like about it. It's the selfless love and the fact that once you have given your heart away that's it. It reminds me of my favourite film Sweet Home Alabama. That moment when she decided to remarry and said 'The truth is I gave my heart away a long time ago, my whole heart, and I never really got it back.' is really sweet.
Which made me think, has this been our case in Baeland? I don't see why not..
