About His Camera

Hello!! At last I finished work this weekend. phew!! I was looking forward to this week as I have taken time off . Yup! Being back at work after resting did me some good and actually a test of how I felt about myself in general and fortunately it turned out ok.
Last few weeks of surfing the net, there were few photos of YJ taken during the making of the book. These photos from the look of it showed the sort of cameras he was using. Whether it was intended to show his precious collection or to make a lowly amateur like me to droll over them, whichever reason it did the trick.

BYJ Gallery made a list of the cameras he used which was good as it helped me with my research. I have written about the Contax, Leica, Hasselblad and Canon before but there were some I missed. To add to his list of high caliber gadgets are the following.

Linhof Technorama 617s III - this must be the King of extreme panoramic experience. The motto of this seemingly spaceship looking camera is : seeing more, showing more. Mhhh why does it reminds of the phrase 'show me the money'? maybe not.

Another camera which I noticed and thought it was another type of Canon is the one he used in the photo below. I am a fan of Canon being an owner on one although mine was the predecessor of Canon DSLR , his was the Canon EOS-1 D . This is part of Canon's top range from 1 D, Mark ll, Mark lll which according to Canon the most  powerful camera in the world.

And of course his faithful Leica M7. Sigh..read here if you want to know some of the reviews.
You might have wondered why Yjssi used so many cameras during this trip. I don't actually blame him. Each camera has it's own strong features and varying results. He's lucky to have used them effectively and the result? What the world have known- The Beauty of Korea. .

Hello

Hello friends!
First of all I'd like to thank you for your warm thoughts and prayers. I had ample time to recover and been back to work. All your thoughts have helped me to face life with a smile again and stay positive. I couldn't thank you enough. Physically I feel fit enough to do my usual stuffs but emotionally it would probably take a while to fully recover however time will tell.
All those days that I spent resting, my other half have always been there for me too. We have been hit by a blow but we both stood strong and there for each other. This might be an unlucky time for us but I am glad that he's born to be with me. So let me wish him a happy, happy birthday.
The book said it would take two hours to prepare and bake the cake but it took me all afternoon.. anyhow I enjoyed making it and I hope you like it..

Taking a Break

Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all keeping well. I am for the mean time signing off. I don't exactly know how long it would take for me to recover mentally, emotionally and physically after tomorrow's procedure but I pray I would as I believe things happen in life for a reason. We gain some and we lose some unfortunately. Sometimes things aren't meant to be and we have to let go no matter how painful it is. The lost of something precious especially if it belongs to you may be hard to bear but I just have to leave it to the Almighty- that everything will be just fine. So friends I hope to see you soon.

The Camera Club I talked about last time is finally launch on the web. You are free to visit it. I trust that whoever comes to visit the site respects the rights of every photographer and their works. Let's enjoy and respect what we see. Thank you.
Till then.

Korean Tourism Pic

Got to say this one is charming.. Who would not want to visit Korea if you are greeted with a warm smile like this?

Cosy Yong Joon

Want to know what YJ likes to wear these days? The following photos showed how relax and cosy YJ would like to be even going to work. In here you could obviously say he favoured comfort.. and well style. Some may find it strange but unfortunately  fashion comes in different ways. So see what you think. Personally he looked chilled and happy. I think those are the main thing.

Look of Spring

Hi there! Looking forward to the weekend? I am. It's been a very long week for me and full of mixed emotions but at the end of the day still a fully pledge YJ fan. I think most of us sometimes doubt ourselves, what we could do and how things would turn out but the bottom line is what is true in our heart prevails. We sometimes commit ourselves into something to a point that there's no turning back. However it's the lesson that we learned from the experience that gets us through the next round or the next day. Before I get carried away I think the message is quite clear let's look forward to  much colourful days ahead. I leave you this photo shared by Suehan in Quilt. Vibrant colour of spring for a much distinctive man- Yong Joon. Thanks.

Sunday Painter

Hello!I'm glad I went to the Camera Club meeting last night. I felt so much better when I got back. It's good to see people whom you can share common interest with. Considering there were only two of us females, I was getting used to the fact that the club was obviously dominated by gentlemen. Apart from the usual challenges that we do for each meeting others also brought their precious photographs. I was truly speechless. I felt I really have a long way to go to reach their level. The website is currently under construction and I couldn't wait to share it here with you. It's very inspiring and just makes you want to go out and take pictures.

While sharing some photos last night, one of the gents showed us a photograph of our town taken recently. All of us agreed instantaneously that the photo was very 'Lowry'. I thought, of course! This brought back memories of where I first lived in England- Manchester. The Lowry named after the artist is an art and entertainment center where they hold exhibits of the homegrown artist Laurence S Lowry.
I remember going to one of the exhibits there and at times just had dinner or did some shopping. It's a place to check out when you are in the city.

Mr. Lowry didn't like it when people thought that he was an 'amateur, self- taught and untutored artist'. His aunt thought he was no good with anything, sent him to Art School where he started learning antique and freehand drawing on his evening classes. His inspirations were Pre-Raphaelites like Ford Maddox Brown and Rosetti.
Manchester is the industrial capital of England. When I moved there I found out that the place we lived in was built for the workers who used to work in the  mines or the factories. Evidently in many areas you'd find big factories with chimneys reaching out to the sky like a pipe of tobacco. Lowry disliked living in this environment. But later on he became 'interested in it then obsessed by it,' his very words.

One of his earlier works was the 'Coming from the Mill' which he thought was the most characteristic mill scene. People walked day in and day out almost  in the same disposition. Perhaps tired as shown by the hunched backs and the manner they walk showed an amount of urgency.

His drawings were different from others made in his time. He was aware of the impressionists in France and the current trend in the Manchester Art scene but still he created a unique form of art which reflected mostly what he felt. Most of his subjects were found in the streets of Manchester and Lancashire.

"I am a simple man, and I use simple materials: ivory, black, vermilion (red), Prussian blue, yellow ochre, flake white and no medium (e.g. linseed oil). That's all I've ever used in my paintings. I like oils... I like a medium you can work into over a period of time"

"I saw the industrial scene and I was affected by it. I tried to paint it all the time. I tried to paint the industrial scene as best I could. It wasn't easy. Well, a camera could have done the scene straight off."
On his mother  being ill after his father died, "She did not understand my painting, but she understood me and that was enough. After she died, I lost all interest."

"Had I not been lonely none of my works would have happened. I feel more strongly about these people than I ever did about the industrial scene. They are real people, sad people. I'm attracted to sadness and there are some very sad things. I feel like them."

Lowry died at the age of 88 in 1976. Old age didn't stop him from painting and drawing. A collection of his works are carefully kept in one of the award-winning buildings in Manchester bearing his name.

"If people call me a Sunday painter I'm a Sunday painter who paints every day of the week!"

Pot calling the kettle black

Hi everyone! I was kind of expecting something nice today (since it's a Monday), read a good article or find something interesting. It looks like I'm going to express a little rambling which to start with I'd rather not talk about but I think the feeling I have about some issues have been put aside for a while and it's coming out of the pot boiling away. So let's plod along ok?

Being the captain of this little boat I do think about where this journey would sail in the end. This year I'm going to change the domain and wondering do I have to keep the Bae Yong Joon idea. Sure I started it out for him but after a while I am seriously considering to reshape it using my own  after all I have to move on that is if I have to continue.

I touched on this aspect because to be honest I am sick of hearing grunts on YJssi, the marketing company, all these deal on how the projects are handled. Why I'm annoyed? In my opinion those who live near him or he tend to see more in terms of launching projects (the market) are very lucky. If you are  a true fan that would be bliss but for those who live far, they are not so lucky at all. Plus let's not forget this is show business, there is certain amount of politics and selling of these and that which unfortunately the unpleasant  side. People have the choice to buy them or  join in any event. It's your prerogative. If you think you have enough of all these, then resign and do things you'd like or forgotten to do.
