poppy day

I am going to take a break this weekend not only because of work but it's Remembrance Sunday. Britain is commemorating the 90 years anniversary of the World War. As for my family , my husband's great grandfather, great great uncle and granfather were war veterans. The latter survived the horrors of Dunkirk and the former didn't make it back to Britain.
This is the war memorial in France called La-Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial. The memorial was built as a tribute of the Battle of Somme, where the family managed to trace the great great uncle's epitaph.

This is John William Webster of the 2nd Battallion Sherwood Forester who died at the age of 29 on the 20th September 1914. He was a member of the regular army prior to conscription in Britain.

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the whole of Britain pause in two minutes silence to remember those who have fallen in conflicts since World War 1.
