Btw the wine was really good. If you are not into white wine because of the flavor I think Brown Brothers Chenin Blanc is just the right one. It's a little bit sweet, fruity and smoother than a Sauvignon Blanc.

Chilled Sunday

It has been a lovely day and I get the chance to do some spring cleaning. I also like cleaning the car so instead of having it valeted we thought we'll do it ourselves plus it's not that messy anyway. When we finish I should be sitting in the garden with my glass of white wine. I am not a beer or larger drinker so at summer time a nice chilled white would do me well although a glass of Margarita would be quite welcome. There's this wine that was featured in Saturday's Kitchen, a program on BBC1 and the chef mentioned about Brown Brothers. It's an East Australian 2007 Chenin Blanc and it's very affordable also. It's one of those which has to be drunk within its 2 vintage years. Wines from this part of Australia and very smooth so I trust this one I bought is as good.

So I hope your weekend is as good..We're having a barbecue so it should be fun. ;-)

fun with pottery

It's the Sandringham Craft show this weekend so we thought we'd go for a drive and see what's on. This is my second time visiting the estate and must admit it's my favorite place as it showcase various activities throughout the year. We set out early this morning to avoid 'weekend drivers'. They are those who like to bring their sporty or vintage cars out and drive leisurely. I mean a 30 mph on a 60mph road so we just managed to avoid them but traffic heading towards the estate was getting heavy.

This year's show wasn't a disappointment at all. Several tents were gathered to showcase various crafts. One thing which caught my attention was pottery. I haven't actually tried it in the past and after feeling the clay and moulding it on a spinning table it felt really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was excited to start with that it took time to register what the man told me. Here are the steps .

1. First place the clay on the table. You have to put pressure onto it so you could form a round base. The man began the process cause I failed to form the basic shape. Trust me on this one ;-).

2. You have to keep your hand still while placing your thumb in the middle to begin the opening. I don't know how I did it but it just opened up.

3. I slowly shaped the clay around and the more I held it up the taller it went.

4. I had to place my finger on the edge in order to create the lip of the pot then place a sponge in the middle to gently remove the water inside.

It's actually very therapeutic because the clay is so soft and smooth to touch. You also have to be very gentle but firm to control the shape. I find it very fascinating. There was no kiln on the spot so I had to bring it home to dry and the best place to put it- the oven. I haven't read on this bit. I just hope it does the trick and so far it's still standing and relatively dry.

Being a former teacher I know what it feels to be in a classroom and understand what a classroom means to the invidual student. If you live in a country whose values upholds the importance of education as your gateway to success and better life a classroom is a vital instrument. Reading about Bae Yong Joon who helped established a school is such a remarkable news. Above all he did for those children who probably lost their parents, a sister, a brother, a relative or a friend from the tsunami.

The catastrophe was enough to scar them for life but because they have been helped by giving them hope and diversion by means of a conducive classroom they could move on and be children again.

Bae Yong Joon is not like your Hollywood star who's always on a cover because of this and that but he has a conscience and believes in people and that every child deserves a chance to live a happy life and a brighter future. To read the full report please click here. Thanks to xiaoyi.

new beginning

It's only been over a week since I decided to give it a break but it certainly felt like years have gone by. During those days I have realized quite a lot of things and made me redirect my perspective. I have set myself free and the will to support BYJ have won.
This site may be dedicated to him but I am hoping to share my own life here in the UK, my experiences and the many things I have loved and enjoyed. Let's sail together..

Pleasant surprise

When I saw these pictures from Baesites, I was wondering why Faceshop didn't use them. Although in any setting BYJ could deliver the goods, it would have been nice if they also use these ones. These are the set I chose and thanks to Polaris for posting them in KOB.

I like the suitcase and BYJ looks fabulous with the waistcoat. The hat is a classic trademark of his and the pose just looked relax and playful.

He's in a pensive mood here and although it's for a beauty product shoot it felt like more of an AB shoot. That's probably why they didn't use them. BYJ is simply natural. Thanks to Polaris, Pims and Style for sharing.
