Fridays..

For most of us Friday is the most awaited time of the week because the weekend is always something to look forward to. On a weekend one could spend time with the family, visit friends/places, relax or just catch up with things to do at home. I haven't got this opportunity anymore to wait for Friday like I used to. Perhaps now it's more of hoping the next day off would arrive soon which is sometimes the case if you are working with shiftwork.

What do you do on a day off and it's Friday? Well, today after attending last night's party was a bit of a lazy day. Not entirely though since I managed to put up all the Christmas decorations in the house, the lights, another Christmas tree for the conservatory and have dusted here and there. Phew!

For the record I didn't go overboard with the drinks last night. A glass of vodka and coke with a few glasses of cheap and cheerful German white didn't do any damage at all. By the way I finally added another bottle to my collection. That's what normally happens on a trip to the supermarket on a Friday. I could get good deals for an affordable price. The wine is a 2003 Chateau Fonreaud of Listrac Medoc. I haven't tried wine from this region before but have to keep it instead.

Anyway back to today's day.. oh well I think the consolation is I have done my job in the house. I felt tired and you probably felt it in this writing. Sometimes I ask myself why there are days like this. I also just realized today I have to listen to my body more and be careful with what I eat. I love Indian food and other spicy dishes but I think I have to negate from those for a while. My poor tummy isn't liking them anymore and I wonder why since I'm used to them. Is it part of growing..?(you know) Ok folks enough of my ramblings before you know everything about my in and outs. You probably won't hear from me this weekend because of work.. Enjoy and keep warm and happy.

BYJ will be attending the MBC Awards

Gosh!! Is it that time again? I just realized it's nearly a year since BYJ received the Grand Award last December. Time really fly so fast , huh! Actor, Bae Yong Joon will be attending to present the awards at the 2008 MBC Acting Awards ceremony.According to MBC on the 2nd, Bae Yong Joon will be attending to present the awards at the 2008 MBC Acting Awards ceremony coming December 30th; he will be announcing the awardees and giving the recognitions.Someone from his management company also revealed his intention to attend the ceremony by saying, 'It's reasonable for him to attend the ceremony because he received the award last year.' Bae Yong Joon was honored to receive the grand award on the 30th of December last year for the drama TWSSG, and he also received the popularity award and best couple award with Lee Jiah selected by netizens (fans). He was delighted to have received 3 awards.On same date, Song Ilgook of Jumong, who had received the grand award at the 2006 MBC Acting Awards Ceremony, presented the award last year.

Now, Bae Yong Joon is writing a travel book that will be published early next year.

TWSSG/The Legend Part 2

For my other friends in the US and UK who may happen to visit this site. You may have wondered what this epic drama series I'm posting, it's the recent project of BYJ and has been aired in various parts of Asia. It is called The legend or Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi/The Story of the Firts King's Four Gods. So, been on an epical mood and missed this series. Bae Yong Joon in the Guardion 4 Years Ago..

The year 2004 is the year I arrived in England and of course already a supporter of Bae Yong Joon. However, I didn't realize his name has crossed boundaries and reached the UK then. The Guardian is one of the leading papers in the UK and to see his name talked about in this broadsheet gives an indescribable pleasure and pride; of knowing the man that was. So This is a repost from the paper published in June 2004. What was I doing at that time?? mmmh probably coming out of hospital here in Britain and preparing for my big day in few weeks time. Korean heart-throb helps detente

His face is one of the most recognisable on Japanese television, but Bae Yong-joon is an unlikely heart-throb.
Not because, at 31, he is slightly on the old side for an industry that worships youth. Nor because he has a chubby face and wears wire-rimmed spectacles. It is because of his birthplace, South Korea.
After decades of ambiguity - and occasional hostility - towards its closest neighbour, Japan is opening its doors to all things Korean.
The actor should take much of the credit for this unlikely cultural detente, which has taken hold despite Japan's brutal 1910-45 occupation of the Korean peninsula and the political mudslinging that has characterised the countries' relations ever since.
"It is often said that Japan and South Korea are so close, yet so far, in that people in both countries do not understand each other," said Takayasu Nakamura, an associate professor of human sciences at Osaka University. "But with more Japanese television personalities speaking Korean on TV, and the drama boom, perceptions are changing - and that can only be good."
Mr Bae stars in a popular drama, Winter Sonata, a tale of rekindled puppy love that has left many Japanese women hankering for an age when their own men were as sensitive and attentive as the Korean actor. Now in the middle of a third successful run on Japan's national broadcaster NHK, Winter Sonata has spawned an industry worth an estimated £56m. The show, and its imitators from across the Sea of Japan, have led to several magazines filled with glossy images of the stars of Korean film and TV.
Viewer numbers received an extra push when NHK decided to use material from the drama for its Korean language course. Sales of a textbook to accompany the language programme rose by 90,000 to 200,000 in the past year as fans brushed up their Hangul.
They aim to be ready to join the tours of Winter Sonata locations that have begun in Seoul. The besotted even try to look like their hero. In the past month, they have snapped up hundreds of wigs modelled on Mr Bae's unisex mop, at £65 apiece.
To his tens of thousands of fans, Mr Bae represents a caring, sharing version of masculinity lacking in many of the men of modern Japan. Few think of him as someone with whom they would like to share a night of passion, but perhaps as the man they secretly wish they had married.
Even his latest incarnation, a scheming lothario in the film Untold Scandal - a Korean remake of Les Liaisons Dangereuses - has failed to dent his image. The film, which drew a reported 40,000 people to its opening a month ago, is expected to rank among the year's box-office hits.

It's the first day of the month and soon it will be Christmas. Actually it felt like it arrived early this year because many people have their decorations up and running. Anyway this video was taken from work. Have you heard of Bell Ringers? Oh well, when I heard of it I was thinking of Quasimodo or those who do it in the church but it's not what I expected. Children actually have a choice in school to do this , so have a look and see for yourself.
