Repost Asahi Article-Translated

Hi there! The article I'm re posting here is a good way of understanding how BYJ is seen by many. It also explains briefly how he's perceived by two nations and how this perception made him who he is today-one of the most influential man in Asia. Many thanks to cloud nine for the translation.

Bae Yong Joon, who has captured Japanese women’s hearts at a single stroke
with his drama “Winter Sonata”, is still active extensively.
“Winter Sonata” has now been made into an animation
and his essay “A travel following the beauty of Korea”
was published in September in both Korea and Japan.
As he contributed to the wide introduction of Korea to Japan,
there are many Koreans who think of him as a private ambassador.

Seal the Deal Campaign Narration

Cheoeumsarangkkeutggaji posted this on KOB.
Posted by Joanne/Quilt

Copy of Narration for the 'Seal the Deal Campaign'

No matter where you are living, warning message sent from the Earth is clear. Due to climatic change that becomes serious every day, we will carry burden on our back that we are not able to cope with.As glaciers melt in both Poles and sea level rises with rising temperature on Earth, several million people are in danger.

Scientists give warnings. If the Earth temperature rises by only 2 degree, there occurs grand extinction of living things on the Earth.By year 2025, two-thirds of human race will live in areas where water is in short supply, and mandatory displacement of millions of climatic refugees will become a reality. We might have to inherit diseases, drought, and starvation to the next generation. The climatic change is the reality. It is progressing in this very moment.

The greenhouse gas that we emit have reached its peak at this time.Mr. Bahn Kimoon, the Secretary General at UN, determined the climatic change as the top priority task for human race in 21st Century. And, in December 2009, in Copenhagen, Denmark, there holds a general assembly of the concerned countries for the Climatic Change Agreement which will decide on the Earth's future. There, leaders of various nations will discuss a new, long-term and effective climatic changes.

The 'Seal the Deal' Campaign, which is to close the Climatic Change Agreement in Copenhagen, is waiting for signatures from every one in Global Village who desires the conclusion of the Agreement. From Africa,,,Europe,,,and to Asia, the 'Seal the deal' Campaign is collecting the wills of all Global Village people. Not only the experts but also the people in the entire world are aware of the necessity of the Climatic Change Agreement for the only one Earth.

The new Agreement will lead the green growth and sustainable low carbon economy. The 'Seal the Deal' Campaign, to be accomplished by our signatures, are moving the policy makers, urging NGO Media, businesses, and general public in entire world to participate in the signature, and informing the importance of the climatic changes and the meeting in Copenhagen.

The success of the Copenhagen meeting depends on the following 4 agenda...First, the developed countries will positively agree on the reduction goal of the greenhouse gases, secondly, the developing countries will practice the plans to reduce the greenhouse gases, thirdly, a fund is raised for the poor countries, victims of the climatic changes, to confront the climatic changes, and the lastly, there is a guarantee that this fund can be used fairly and effectively.

Then, what are the things that we can do.Please connect to homepage of the 'Seal the Deal' now and participate in the campaign...And then, place you signature..Our signatures will determine the history of mankind..We can make changes...Are we going to tell our children that we did nothing at the moment when we had hope?..

'Seal the Deal'.. Your signatures will save the Earth..

This is actually alarming as here in the UK we too have our own share of disasters.. Recently is the flooding in Cumbria which apparently hasn't happened in a hundred years. Certainly the world is changing and we have to do something about it not just for us but for generations to come. I couldn't imagine living other than this Earth. It's such a beautiful place. It would be a shame if we destroy it. Have a think about it.

Please support Seal the Deal. Thanks Xiaoyi for the video.

Some BYJ MV's

Hi there!
I hope you had a nice weekend. There was a down time on my part and a sudden rush of adrenaline when I found out about BYJ participating in the UN climate change initiative. I hope you too have done your share in saving planet Earth.
While looking for more news about BYJ and more videos I stumbled on this set of mv's shared by Mayuka in YT. You must have seen it before several times but it's my first time to really take a closer look.
These are some of the clips during the Tokyo Dome rehearsal last September and I must say BYJ had shown such high level of professionalism for his part.

Looking at this last video I can't help but notice the missing piece of the puzzle.. I would truly be happy for him when he'd find that woman he could stand in the crowd with. It would be simply perfect.

BYJ's Seal the Deal Campaign

The hottest news in Baeland I believe is BYJ's participation in the Seal the Deal campaign for climate change. If you want to know about it and would like to sign the petition just click here.
Below is a brief report posted by Joanne in Quilt. Have a productive day ahead.

Kwon Ohkyeong posted this on the Talk Box of BYJ's official home.

'Missionary for Environment' BYJ, to deliver message at the UN Climate Meeting
[JES]11/20/09

BYJ will appeal the seriousness of climatic change to human race all over the world at UN using with his voice.

BYJ participated in a narration work in a public service video for 'Seal the Deal' Campaign, led by Bahn Kimoon, UN Secretary General. The 'Seal the Deal' is a global petition movement the UNEP (UN Environmental Plan) promotes. They are getting signatures from general citizens in the whole worldt to urge necessity of Climatic Agreement through its Seal the Deal homepage (www.sealthedeal2009.org).

The Seal the Deal public service video, where BYJ participated in, will be introduced while entire world is watching at the 15th general convention of the concerned countries for UN Climatic Change Agreement, held in Copenhagen, Denmark from coming December 7 to 18. After that, it will be followed by movements in each country to urge Climatic Change Agreement, and it is planned to be used in a movement for Environmental Protection of the Earth in association with portal sites in Korea.

BYJ, having been interested in the environmental protection in ordinary times. delightfully accepted the proposal to participate in public service video from UN. He finished the narration work on 11 in recovering status after he suffered from the sepsis. In a 4 minutes 35 second long video, he appealed with powerful voice the necessity of Climatic Agreement. The format is to narrate in Korean with subtitling in English.

UN Climatic Change Agreement in this time is in preparation for the Climatic Agreement which will go into effect from 2012. The main point is making decision on reponsibilities and standards for developed coutries and developing countries to undertake, respectively, to reduce amount of green-house gas emission. Naturally, it will become a focus by press in entire world, and BYJ's voice will be introduced to the world.

On the other hand, BYJ also shot a CF to promote 'Visit Korea Years' recently. As the Promotional Ambassador for 2010~2012 'Visit Korea Years', he participated in the filming to inform sentiment of Korea going around places in Cholla Province. This promotional video is planned to be introduced to overseas tourists including Japan, etc, in short while.

Finally

Hello! So the waiting was over. I finally saw the film New Moon. I was praying there would be available tickets hence Alex and I went to watch the first screen show of the day. When we got to the cinema there were already 20 people in the queue. Not bad at all. As we got into our seats the room just got filled bit by bit. I was munching as much popcorn as I can perhaps due to being nervous and just anxious waiting. Anyway after half an hour of ads and presentations the film went on alright.

For me who read the books more than once it's a bizarre experience. I sat there anticipating every scene and obviously knew what would come next. Thanks to spoilers they have removed the element of surprise for me although I was nearly in tears on some parts. Perhaps I could relate there in some aspect but that's another story. I told myself I won't be watching spoilers with Eclipse.

Overall the film was really good. The werewolves obviously gave it a new depth which I think would appeal to many male viewers. Edward looked more matured in this one. I don't know if the trick there was to give more emphasis on him being the vampire and shift the attention to Jacob making the latter more appealing. In which case the message was quite clear after hearing some ladies reacting while watching him. The effects were pretty cool and as for the fight scenes they were relatively realistic and well choreographed.
New Moon is much different from Twilight. It plays on pain, abandonment, friendship, solitude but absolution in the end. True human sufferings- spices to most happy endings. Can't wait for Eclipse.

When I saw BYJ with the dogs it reminded me so much of the film.. well the wolf is out of the big bag now. Have a magical weekend.

Info About BYJ's Visit to Cheongwadae

Hello there! I hope you are having a good day. Things pretty much the same where I am although I have been working on getting back into Uni while doing another course at home. Wish me luck.. btw we have read about that meeting of BYJ with the Korean First Lady. Joanne shared what transpired from that meeting. For those who didn't know what was discussed, here's a brief translation .. Have a good day.
Trans: BYJ's interesting remarks at Cheongwadae
Source: Quilt by Joanne

The Dailian reported BYJ's visit to Cheongwadae, Korean President's Office and Home on 11/10/09. The first news was translated to English and is on News section (#1989). On the same day, the same reporter at the Dailian reported conversation between BYJ and First Lady in detail, titled Madam Kim's life in Cheongwadae as confided to Yonsama, BYJ.

Gaeulyeoja posted this on the Talk Box of BYJ's official home. It is a long article. Here are just some of interesting remarks by BYJ.
****
Madam Kim and Mr. Bae talked about traditional Korean homes and Makgeolli(Traditional Korean liquer made of grains) as main themes.

When Mr. Bae said, "While I took photos, I made round on traditional Korean homes, and I really want to live in traditional Korean home,".

****

When Madam Kim told about reducing food waste in her family by placing enough amoung of side dishes on one large plate instead of serving them in individual dishes, Mr. Bae answered that " Although I still live alone, there are too much food waste. I can also save (having less waste) if I do that way."

During the friendly chat with frank Lady Kim, Mr. Bae hinted his inner thought saying that his future dream was to do organic farming.

Nearing the end of friendly chat, when a Korean cuisine restaurant located in Seongbook Dong (One mentioned in BYJ's book) became a topic of talks, and Lady Kim wished to visit there once, Mr. Bae responded warmly saying, "I will personally bring my car and take dear Madam there and return in secret."

When Madam Kim said, "For us, December 19 is wedding anniversary, date won the Presidential election, as well as (President's) birthday," and "We did that way not to forget but to celebrate both the birthday and wedding anniversary because (President) has been so busy,", Mr. Bae answered, "When I get married, I will fit everything to my wife's birthday, contrary to (you)." Then, Madam Kim joked, "If you do that, you will get more love from your wife."

On that day, the friendly chat between Madam Kim and Mr, Bae lasted about 1 hour and 10 minutes, extending over scheduled time.

Reported by Dong Seonghye

Now that's a very sweet remark from BYJ...making sure he's got the time for his wife..tsk, tsk, where is that lady? We might have to use a SatNav to help her find the right way and I mean asap.. ;-)

something new

Hello there!
Today I have decided that I'd make some changes in my blog. I just thought I seem to be juggling all sorts of things in Now and Then and I personally find it confusing as well. Most of you have noticed that I have touched more on photography and Bae Yong Joon topics (related updates) as much as I can as these two were the prime reasons why Now and Then was created.
Since there are other interest that I'd like to share I decided to write about it using another blog. I officially called it Twilighter's Meadow. I believe it's not a unique name but I haven't got the intention to launch this on a global scale let alone rival with major sites so I'll leave it as it is. I have enjoyed reading the Twilight Saga and undoubtedly became a convert. So to end my predicament I thought this space would be appropriate for a moonlighter like me.
I also understand that not many of you are attuned to this genre hence I believe a change is due.
Thank you for still following my blog up to now..

Q1: The two events held in Tokyo with an assumed air of grandness. What were you thinking when facing the Japanese families (fans) who came especially from all over Japan?

Answer: In fact my health wasn’t great. I was a bit worried when leaving Seoul. However when I thought about the families, I drew an unthinkable strength from them. Seeing my families, I felt vigorous regardless of how long the event went on. Luckily it ended successfully. When I think back, I feel that “I absolutely should not allow the families to worry this much ever again” and my commitment to “health first” has become stronger.

Q2: Your latest work, the animated started broadcasting in SKYPE. How do you feel about it currently?

Answer: I was delighted. I feel very happy about being able to go back to the moment via animation dubbing. Given that the season is changing towards winter, one’s mood is designed to become warmer and it is harder to part from it.

Q3. The animated has touched on and extended some storylines that were not in the original TV drama. How were the storylines extended? What sort of ending would it be this time?

Answer: The scenes not in the TV drama are currently filming in New York and France (smile). The new plots follow the two of them mutually exclusively to New York and France for those 3 blank years after they part at the airport. The ending has not yet been decided. Perhaps it should be more advanced than the TV drama. Personally I would like to see a happy ending.

Q4: “Han Ah Yeo” (Journey in search of the beauty of Korea) has already been published. The word “Yeo” (Journey) was added to the book title, what sort of meaning does it hold?

Answer: This book is divided into “living”, “outings”, “leaving behind”, “contemplation”, “returning”, “out again”. I believe life is like a continuous Yeo. Therefore in this book, as I encounter Korean culture, at the same time, I also encountered myself. Therefore the word “Yeo” is used.

Q5: The style of this book is like “creating the cultures after encountering them unexpectedly”… but

Answer: I believe life is actually about continuous encounters. Previously I mentioned the topic “Yeo”. In the journey of life, we strike the same chord with new encounters and gaining new knowledge. Therefore I trust the end result would be an exchange of cultures. Shouldn’t we share our knowledge and learn the unknowns from others in order to share these feelings?

Q6: As an actor, also as a person, What is still on Mr BYJ’s mind?

Answer: Whether as an actor or as a person, I believe one should “live properly”. For example, I feel that in order to live properly and how to live properly, listening to opinions around me is very important. At the same time, in order to listen to opinions properly, creating an environment which will allow one to exchange one’s opinions is also very important.

Chateau Lafleur

You must have seen the photos of food prepared by BYJ in some Baesites recently. Are you hungry enough?? In my case my attention was drawn to the wines served for these dishes..
I am not surprised by the price or the quality/type of wine he drinks after all he could afford them.. A lowly commoner like me would only appreciate and bank on the knowledge I gain each time I come across a certain wine. Enjoy the beauty but never the bouquet..
Few days ago I was talking to this French woman who just happened to be in town about French wines. We ended up discussing about our favorites.. I told her that so far on top of my list are Lafite & St. Emilion. She then mentioned Petrus which supposedly 'one of the most expensive'..
How does this relate to the wines I saw in those Baesites? When I searched for Chateau Lafleur the name Petrus came up. Lafleur is a tiny estate which produces rich, elegant with superb concentration Bordeaux wines. In terms of Bordeaux quality, Lafleur comes second to Petrus.

The Chateau Lafleur Review- "Wonderful--dark and brooding--with plenty of currant and mint character. Super balance, with ripe tannins and a sense of elegance. Excellent quality for this vintage." Wine Spectator (Jan 2000)

New Moon Spoiler

For many Twi-hards these coming days can't really go any quicker. Personally I am faced with the dilemma over the Wednesday's London gig. Do I really want to queue up like those high voltage teens screaming for Rob (a.k.a. Edward) on the red carpet or stay in the comfort of our house in this tiny little town and sulk?
I am still toying at the idea and if Alex is well and truly supportive I shall be battering the cold of Battersea Park and endure the journey on the good old British railway. Would it be worth it? Let's hope and see.
As if I haven't taunted you enough to watch this film, let's take a look at the recent New Moon spoiler. Beware: half naked men and werewolf shape shifters are on the loose.

me in the kitchen

When Alex left for work this morning I promised him I'd keep myself busy today. Although I wasn't too sure what exactly I could do. I saw in one corner a basketful of laundry which needed ironing and I thought I needed a lot more will power to do that as me and ironing board don't get on very well. Not that our clothes don't get ironed but that's mainly hubby's forte.
However after accomplishing some errands long overdue I decided to go to the shop and get some ingredients so I could bake. It wasn't a brilliant idea since I haven't baked for a long while and didn't really have that culinary skill but still I persevered.
I came home and got things ready.. Please don't think I'm making a special kind of cake here which in retrospect I should have gone for that option but that's just my optimistic side. I thought I'd bake a less complicated recipe- Rasberry Muffin.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I thought the egg looked cute in the mixture.

Photobucket

not too sure when to stop beating as I didn't want the cream to go firm.

Photobucket

keep folding..

Photobucket

I must admit it's not your M & S or Waitrose sort of muffin but I got there in the end. It tasted Ok but I really need to practice more. Perhaps a crash course would help.

Rob's Star Interview

Interview by Peter Howell-
Twilight's Rob Pattinson: The Undead Sexy
CANNES, France–There are no crystal decanters of blood for Robert Pattinson to sip from, or milky white virgin necks to nibble upon.

Pattinson's treats, arrayed before him on a glass table shaped like a kneeling Greek goddess, aren't your typical vampire fare: a bowl of potato chips, packages of green apple mint gum and a box of See's chocolates imported from the U.S.

The world's sexiest undead man eschews all the caloric temptations, apologizing as he nips off to another room for a few drags on a Camel Lights cigarette before commencing this interview.

"I'm sorry!" he says, pausing only to shake hands. "I'll be right back!"
Pattinson returns a few minutes later, flashing a smile filled with extraordinarily white teeth. Despite the 28C heat on this sunny day at the Cannes Film Festival, he's wearing two shirts (a short-sleeved one over a T-shirt) and cotton jeans with holes in the knees.
The London-born actor's heavily moussed hair, as always, looks like it has been styled by the fingers of ravaging fans of the Twilight books and films that have made him into a teen scream sensation.

"It's completely nuts," Pattinson, 23, says of his sudden global acclaim. "I had lunch in some restaurant the other day down the street and if you're in a place for more than an hour, word gets out. There were like 500 or 600 people outside, watching and waiting for me."
He is animated and engaging while speaking, quite unlike the pale and brooding vampire Edward Cullen he plays in Twilight, a 2008 hit, and its sequel New Moon, which arrives in theatres Nov. 20.

Which means he had to act the role, of course, and in Pattinson's case he used the approach of a method actor, trying to move the way a vampire does. The feat was complicated by the desire of director Catherine Hardwicke, the film's producers and Twilight novelist Stephenie Meyer that Pattinson not act like the typical neck-biting bloodsucker.

"They kept saying they wanted to reinvent the genre of the vampire film, so I was really just trying to figure out how to play a vampire not as a vampire," Pattinson says, running a hand through his brown locks. "I looked at a lot of movement in samurai films, because of the stillness. None of which I particularly used. It just sort of felt Zen."

Photobucket

He finally determined that the key to understanding Edward was aloneness.
"I spent a lot of time by myself. I tried not to talk to too many people. My initial instinct was not to talk to anybody at all, so my first line would be like the first time I had spoken in a month, so you could get that kind of weird dialect. But it's quite tough to do that!" he laughs.
Tougher still is living up to expectations of what Twilight fans expect of Pattinson and his co-star Kristin Stewart, who plays Bella, the all-too-human love of the immortal and undead Edward. more

Nikkan Sports Interview

Nikkan Sports article on 11/5/09

BYJ (37) held an exclusive interview with Nikkan Sports, an influential Japanese media, and disclosed difficulties and worth as a writer. BYJ, having published the 'Travel in search of Korea's Beauty' in past September, was introduced with the interview on no less than 2 pages in Nikkan Sports on the 5th.

In this interview, he revealed in detail about his feeling about his own book becoming the best seller in both countries of Korea and Japan, and the process of writing during the past one year.

BYJ spoke his mind frankly saying, "Although it was a difficult project having to stay up all night continuously nearing the finishing date, it was very worthwhile work."Continuing on, regarding 'feeling when he first saw the finished copy', he said, "At first, I had hard time to an extent to think if I may not be able to finish this book. However, once I saw the finished published copy, I was very much moved, and felt that I accomplished my duty only by then."

Also, to a question, "Even though you were able to write the book without personally experiencing the culture, why did you insist to suffer to that extent', he explained, "This book is the book that tells the truth. I thought that if I do not talk my real appearance when talking about myself, the meaning would disappear. Because I am not a professional writer, I thought that it was the best to express my thoughts as intact as they were."

On the other hand, BYJ visited Japan on the 30th in the past month to attend promotional event of animation 'WLS' and event to commemorate the publication in Tokyo, Japan, and he told a news that he was recovering from the sepsis he contracted recently.

BYJ Update

BYJ’s company said, “in the process of recovering completely from sepsis.. Exercising hard”
2009-11-05 07:40

Moneytoday Star News Reporter Kim Gyeowool

It is known that BYJ is recovering from sepsis which he was diagnosed last September.

On the 5th of November, Star News had a phone conversation with an official of his management company and he said, “He is recovering from sepsis. It’s hard to say that he’s fully recovered, but he’s doing normal activities fairly.”

He added, “He takes care of his condition himself and excises earnestly.”, and he shared BYJ’s updates by saying, “He’s working hard for the recording of animation Winter Sonata.”

In the middle of September, he had treatments at the hospital when he collapsed due to the symptoms of the early stage of sepsis. After that, he returned to Korea because he’s condition worsened during the Japan visit on the 2nd of last month. It has been reported that his condition worsened due to overwork and he has been working hard to recover his health.

O2 Cover Story-Bae Yong Joon Today
“Reporter, Hur, have you been seeing someone these days?”
Bae Yong Joon asked me.
Seven years with Yonsama, waiting for the second “Love Song’

Seven years with Yonsama, winter is approaching, so we can sing the second “Love Song’.

‘Does he really have a close relationship with Bae Yong Joon?’

On the day we went to meet BYJ, one of the reporters gave a tip with a smile that some reporters who accompanied with me bet if I am close to him. I shook my head and responded by saying, “I just know him.”

I frequently saw that the word, “close’ was abused in the social life. I hate more when it is misused than abused. That’s why, I chose the expression, “I just know him.’ that might be suitable to define my relationship with him.

On the last day of September, there was a commemorative event of the Japanese version of ‘Journey to discover the beauty of Korea’ that was held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Reporters including me were waiting for him at the waiting room in the back. He showed up with a stage costume. I made eye contact with him when he was looking around the reporters and we waved our hands a little. The reporter next to me said,

“I think you’re really close to Bae Yong Joon.”.

We wave our hands to someone we know. After the group interview, he showed his respects to each reporter who came to Japan. Ironically, I was the last.

BYJ has become lonely as the times goes by. We shouldn’t consider his joke, “I need a wife,’ lightly

Our conversation continued for about 7 minutes. After that, I hurried to get on the bus for the reporters, and a certain junior reporter asked me quietly about the conversation I had with BYJ. He was worried that if he did not find out about our conversation he would get in serious trouble. (suehan: he wanted to be update with BYJ current events)

I could easily imagine that he told himself, “He is mean.” even though he was nodding as a courtesy when I responded, “We didn’t talk about important matters.” But, actually we didn’t talk about anything which was enough to be “news”. I was in trouble.

From the average actor to a very special one.., his last 7 years.

“I heard about how you’ve been.’ (BYJ)

Did he want to hear my ‘personal issues’, neither “I’m fine.” nor “Not much.”? It has been one and half year since I encountered him at the health club in Seoul.

One year and six months has passed like it was one day. Meanwhile, he wrote a book and I worked for the new company. Separate with popularity, the chronicle of human beings is this much unproductive. He and I just exchanged a reserved smile.

I showed my respect by saying, “I’m enjoying reading your book.” Before I came to Tokyo, his management company sent his book to me. He nodded when I added that I wasn’t just saying so as a courtesy, but I was really reading his book.

The last 7 years was the length of time of ‘Hallyu’ that was initiated by the drama, “Winter Love Song’, and the period that BYJ and I have ‘known’ each other.

And, now I come to think about these 7 years, there were quite some changes for me, as an entertainment reporter.

We can’t pile blocks against the gossips of entertainers and it is somewhat our destiny as the reporters. Who and who became lovers and it’s true that it put in turmoil if they’re getting marry. We are always prepared to write a letter of explanation if we miss prominent news until the day we write the letter of resignation.

I think that the gossip war is still effective and it might strangle my neck harder as the days go, but I can confess that I could breathe a little because of BYJ.

It’s possible to explain the reason with one line. Because he is an entertainer who can be featured at 9 O’clock news without any incidents.
Seventy thousand copies of the first edition of his book, ‘Journey to discover the beauty of Korea’, which he wrote sold out in Korea and Japan combined.

BYJ said, “I need a wife.”

He said it like a joke at the interview with reporters.

“The one I need now is a wife.”

Actually, the wit that he copied from the apartment CF in which he appeared a while ago broke down the awkward atmosphere with the reporters in a second because he is famous for declining interviews.

After the interview, I felt the complicated changes from his face expression when I faced with him separately. I thought it might come from the despondency, or the emptiness, or the cross of both feelings.

‘Journey to discover the beauty of Korea’ is his first book which he made by himself, not allowing someone to use him. Someone who had experienced the feeling when he climbed up at the goal regardless of the height of the mountain can realize that the happiness of the accomplishments remains just for a moment and discover that he is not able to take care of himself which resulted from the indescribable despondency.

He might be indulged in the mood after he released his stress that had pressed him until he carried out the publication event in front of the forty-thousand audiences.

He said, “I’m sick.” and asked me, “Are you seeing someone now?”

Actor asked the reporter? It looked like the relationship of the host and guest was reversed. He asked me about my acquaintance of the opposite sex in the conversation he shared with me. He might have sensed the same emptiness from me. Actually, everybody interprets the other side with ‘empathy’.

I said that I had broken up not too long ago and “It is hard a little.” He smiled a bit and said, “Let’s have a cup of tea together when we go back to Seoul.” The taste might be bitter like ‘comforting drinks’.

Come to think of it, I met him the first time at the traditional tea house in Seoul about seven years ago. It was about the time when the movie, ‘Scandal’ was released.

He liked the traditional tea at that time as well. I remembered he had Ssanghwa Tea (雙和茶) and it looked like I asked him as a joke, “Why don’t you put an egg in it?” I don’t remember if he laughed.
‘Gosireh’, the high-level Korean Traditional Restaurant which is located at Minatogu in Tokyo.

He is guilty of being rich.

He reigns as the top Hallyu Star and often is described with numbers.

From the numbers of Japanese fans who came to the airport to meet him, to the changed amounts from the seventy thousand copies of the first edition of his book, ‘Journey to discovery the beauty of Korea’, which had been sold out in Korea and Japan combined.

Add to his nickname, ‘Yonsama’, the media called him ‘Rich Man in Stocks.’ when the domestic entertainment industry was discussed as being on its way to becoming industrialized.

Countless news with numbers in front came out at the commemorative event which was held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. For example, forty five thousand tickets, its flat rate of thousand Won, were almost sold out and four billion five hundred million won was collected for the entrance fee on that day.

Just like that, BYJ has been described with numbers over seven years, and many people start looking at him ‘how much/many’, not BYJ.

How much has he made so far, how much did he make this time, and how much he’ll be making in the future are the public’s main interests. So to speak, it looks like the public’s interests towards BYJ were changed to ‘how much/many’ instead of scandals.

I don’t know how much money he has. The only things I know of are Maybach, which are rare within the country, belongs to his management, he actually rides a Land Rover, and his house that most people are curious about is ‘a lease house’.
BYJ appeared at the press conference of the Japanese animation ‘Winter Love Song’ on September 29, 2009.

There is a high possibility that he might have enough money that can support 3 generations without asking him about his assets.

Greed has no limits, but there may not be any interests or feelings once he/she reaches his/her goal that is the ways of life.

He used the term, ‘empty’ for that nihility.

He said, “I’m going to get rid of furniture one by one to empty the house once I return to Seoul.” He mentioned this during the interview with the reporters, and he also added, “Sufficiency is like feeling being pressed down by something.”

Nonetheless, he is making money through his company listed in Kosdaq. He opened a high-level Korean traditional restaurant, ‘Gosireh’ under his brand at Minatogu in Tokyo and introduces Kimchee and Makgellee to overseas. Businessmen understand him for sure. Company is eventually an organism and will grow continuously, not that, it must be raised.

He may think that it’s better if he didn’t list his company in the stock market. He may concern of the stock price which restrains him to some extent and he releases his stress in his private life by saying, “I’ll reduce and get rid of everything.”

His future, it would be varied, but it’s possible to imagine.

‘Journey to discover the beauty of Korea’, so called the culture experience book, has a very special meaning to BYJ compared his works like ‘Winter Love Song’, which made today’s BYJ, the movie, ‘Scandal’ and ‘April Snow’, and the latest drama, ‘TWSSG’.

Even though it was his responsibility to choose the role, eventually BYJ in the works captured the hearts of numerous Asian fans and BYJ was created by someone.

Compared to those, so to say, this book is an UCC or his production which has a tremendous scale. ‘Journey to discover the beauty of Korea’ was planned and completed only by him. From that point, it shows the steps of ‘prosumer’ to share his feelings and enjoyment with his fans called by ‘Family’. The business aspect of it is secondary which follows his name naturally.
BYJ’s last 7 years were brilliant. What can we see from the BYJ’s 2nd term in the future?

He didn’t use the term, ‘prosumer’. But his wishes, I want to practice making ceramics and lacquer arts, those I got to know while I was writing a book, harder and ‘want to be a ceramist and lacquer artist’, will work as important evidence to BYJ’s future activities.

BYJ, the top ‘original contents’, is in the process to change ‘the core’ which calls and combines his fans more.

The originals which made him a star and shine and will continue to make him shine in the future is ‘Winter Love Song’, and everybody can imagine it.

But nothing lasts forever.

At some point time in the past which ‘passed like an arrow’, he might want to have ‘BYJ’s 2nd term’, the term is used frequently, with ‘his own things’ that can show himself.

Like everything has its own reason, the world moves by the order of the cause and effect to some extent. At this point of seeing his interests of the Korean traditional Korean foods and publication of his experience book of the traditional culture, we can imagine what kind of new BYJ will be remembered to the public after 7 years.

Matlock Bath

On the way to Dovedale I noticed a small village which was noticeably charming. It's called the Matlock Bath located in the south of Matlock in Derbyshire next to River Derwent. It's a village surrounded by woodlands. Just imagine your house overlooking a hill with luscious trees as if you were somewhere in the Alps. Apparently poets Lord Byron and Mary Shelley commented on this place. The latter wrote in her novel "We proceeded to Matlock (Bath), which was our next place of rest. The country in the neighbourhood of this village resembles Switzerland; but everything is on a lower scale".

If you wondered why the name Bath, this goes back to the Victorian times when three medicinal springs were found in 1698. The first wooden bath was constructed in the village hence the name Matlock Bath .

We didn't get the chance to stop at Matlock because of the heavy rain which affected most of the country. I forgot to mention that we were camping and had to move because the condition was getting worst. You might find it ridiculous to camp at this time of the year but it's worth it.

Dovedale

What do we know about Derbyshire? It's a county in the midlands where part of the Peak District is located. It comprises of hill, dales, mountains and rivers. Because of its beautiful landscapes many films were made in the region among those were Pride and Prejudice of Keira Knightley and The Other Boleyn Girl of Scarlett Johansson. Although we didn't go to all these filming locations our journey to the Derbyshire borders didn't disappoint at all.
My husband wanted me to see the Peak District in Debyshire and been saying I'd love it. I kept asking was it really nice but little did I know that nice was an understatement. Since we only had the weekend we picked the popular place Dovedale where The Other Boleyn Girl was also filmed. It's known for its stepping stones, limestone ravine, wildlife and stunning scenery.

Dipper perched on one of the rocks. One of the wildlife photographers turned around to me and pointed this bird. She thought my camera was good enough to take a shot. It's a pity it flew afterwards so I only got one.

Country Lanes

Travelling in country lanes is like an adventure. My hubby thinks I'm like a kid in a sweet shop looking at the sceneries. All I could utter was 'wow' and 'look' . Although it could be daunting considering the narrow roads and sharp corners but the trees at this time of the year are something to behold.
